Acceptance

By creating an account or using GutMap, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

These terms form a binding agreement between you and the individual operating GutMap ("we", "us", or "our"). GutMap is an independently operated app, not a corporation.

What GutMap Is

GutMap is a personal food and symptom tracking app that helps you identify potential connections between what you eat and how you feel. It uses statistical analysis of your own logged data and AI-generated summaries to surface patterns over time.

What GutMap Is Not

GutMap is not a medical device, a clinical diagnostic tool, or a substitute for professional medical care. It does not provide diagnoses, prescriptions, or treatment plans. Any correlations or insights the app surfaces are based solely on your own logged data and AI pattern recognition — they may be incomplete, incorrect, or misleading. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making dietary or medical decisions.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately. Do not use GutMap in place of emergency care.

Your Account

You are responsible for:

One account per person. You may not share your account or create accounts on behalf of others without permission.

Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use GutMap. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should use the app with a parent or guardian's awareness, given the sensitive health data involved.

If we learn that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and data promptly.

Subscriptions and Payment

GutMap is a paid subscription managed by Apple's App Store. New users can start with a free trial; after the trial, an active subscription is required to keep using GutMap. There is no free tier.

Your Data and Content

You own the data you log in GutMap — your meals, symptoms, and health information are yours. By using the app, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that data for the sole purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership over your personal data.

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and immediately removes all your data from our servers.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or engage in behaviour that harms other users. We will generally give notice before taking action unless the situation requires immediate suspension.

Intellectual Property

The GutMap app, its name, logo, design, and all content produced by us (including AI-generated report templates and interface copy) are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without our written permission.

Your personal data and your own log entries belong to you, as described above.

Disclaimer of Warranties

GutMap is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated insights will be accurate. We are a small indie app and things may break — we appreciate your patience.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any health outcomes, dietary decisions, injuries, or other damages arising from your use of or reliance on GutMap. This includes indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties or limitation of liability, so these provisions may not apply to you in full. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles. If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at support@gutmap.app — we will try to resolve it informally before either party pursues formal proceedings.

Third-Party Services

GutMap integrates with third-party services including a cloud database provider, a third-party AI analysis service, Sign in with Apple, and Sign in with Google. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability or actions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app message or email before the changes take effect and update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after that date means you accept the revised terms.
